This is not a cake. This is a torta as we call it in Greece. These types of sweets are sold in sweet stores and they are made with chocolate, cream, caramel, etc. It usually has one or two very thin layers of sponge-cake or lady fingers and filling. On top they are decorated with whipped cream or pieces of chocolate. This is an easy one you can make at any occasion. I found this recipe on an advertising leaflet that was given to me when I bought the milk.
Chocolate TortaIngredients1 can sweetened condensed milk (about 397 gr.)
400 gr. unsweetened chocolate (I used 70% cocoa)
500 gr. heavy cream
20 lady fingers
little bit of rum or brandy
For the sauce250 gr. unsweetened condensed milk
150 gr. water
400 gr. unsweetened chocolate ( I used 70% cocoa)
40 gr. butter
1 cup whipped cream
InstructionsWe whip the heavy cream until it becomes chantilly. We melt the chocolate on a bain-marie and throw the milk. We incorporate the chocolate batter to the whipped cream and mix until they become one. In a bowl we put the rum or brandy. On a tray we put half of the lady fingers after we have sank them on the rum or brandy. Above them we put half of the chocolate cream. Another layer of lady fingers and the rest of the chocolate cream. We put the sweet in the fridge and we make the chocolate sauce as follows:
We melt the chocolate in bain-marie. We heat the milk with the water and we throw it to the chocolate. Add the butter and whisk until well incorporated. We place it in the fridge for a few minutes until the sauce starts to thicken and throw it over the torta. We garnish with whipped cream or anything that you like. Good Luck.
