Spaghetti Bolognese

To be honest with you, I feel a little embarassed posting this recipe. The reason is that, this is a very easy meal for me and a comfort food for my family. I believe all families have meals like that and all of you have meals that are easy and comforting. The only reason I am giving you this recipe is to perhaps give you another perspective of an old and tried recipe. Anyway, I know I still owe you the recipes of the food we made on Clean Monday, but it is so hard for me to interview my own mother these days. I promise you though, I will try and do it in the following days.

Spaghetti Bolognese (in greek Spaghetti with Ground Beef)

Ingredients
500 gr. spaghetti
500 gr. ground beef
400 gr. finely chopped tomatoes(I used canned)
1 onion, finely chopped
3 tbsp olive oil
1/2 cup white wine
200 gr. mushrooms, sliced
2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
3 bay leaves
1 tbsp sugar

Instructions

Boil pasta according to instructions.
In a skillet put the 3 tbsp of olive oil in high heat and sautee the onion for couple of minutes. Then throw the ground beef and sautee for 3 minutes. Throw the wine and mushrooms and continue sautee them until all wine is absorbed. Next throw the chopped tomatoes, salt, cinnamon, ground nutmeg, sugar and bay leaves. Lower heat to low and simmer for 50 to 60 minutes. When it's ready throw the pasta and mix. Serve with parmigiano or any other cheese you like. I am sending this to Presto Pasta Nights an inspiration of Ruth Daniels, this week hosted by Michelle from Italian Mama Chef.
